Experience publishes a restaurant's menu as a web page that guests open by scanning the code on their table or following a link. This notice says what that involves for guests and for the restaurants we work with, and how to reach us about it. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules under it.
Who we are
Experience is operated by Dakshsinh Parmar, Surat, Gujarat. For the personal data we hold, we are the data fiduciary. Dakshsinh Parmar answers questions about it at hello@experience.place.
Guests
A menu has no accounts, no sign-in and no cookies. It loads no analytics or advertising scripts and sends nothing about you to us or to anyone else while you browse. We collect no personal data from guests.
The choices you make on a menu, such as your dietary type, allergens to hide, the appearance you prefer, your table size and the dishes you save, are kept in your phone's browser storage only. They never leave your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.
Menus are served by Cloudflare, our hosting provider. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles your request, including your IP address, to deliver the page, and it counts how many times each menu page is requested. We read those aggregate counts to understand how a menu is used. We do not receive or keep a record of individual visitors.
Restaurants
To publish a menu we store what the restaurant gives us: the brand and branch names, address and contact links, opening hours, the dishes with their descriptions, dietary marks, allergens, nutrition facts, prices and photographs. Most of this is business information. The personal data in it is the names and contact details of the people we work with at the restaurant, which we use only to build and change the menu, to keep in touch about it and to review results together.
We hold this data because the restaurant gives it to us for that purpose. Every published version of a menu is kept while we work together, so a restaurant can see what its guests saw at any time. When a restaurant leaves, we delete its data, and the personal data with it, unless the law requires us to keep a record.
Sales figures and point-of-sale exports a restaurant shares to review results with us are handled by us directly, outside the website, kept only for that review, and never published or shared with other restaurants.
Menu data is stored with our database provider, PlanetScale, in Mumbai, India, and published menus and photographs are stored with Cloudflare. Both act on our instructions as data processors. Cloudflare serves pages from its network worldwide, so a request may be handled outside India, which the Act permits. We do not sell restaurant data, and we share it with no one else.
If you message us on WhatsApp, Meta handles those messages under its own privacy policy; we keep the conversation to answer you and to set up your menu.
Your rights
Anyone whose personal data we hold can ask what we hold, have it corrected or updated, have it erased, and nominate someone to exercise these rights for them. A restaurant that gave us personal data can withdraw its consent to our use of it at any time; we then stop using it, though we may no longer be able to publish the menu. Write to hello@experience.place. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
Menus and this site are served over HTTPS. Access to restaurant data is limited to the people who build and change menus, and every change to a menu is recorded.
Children
Experience is offered to restaurants, and we do not knowingly hold personal data about children.
Changes
When this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. Restaurants we work with are told of any change that affects them.
